Arkatype conducted a technical design review of a communication phase of a mega project in Saudi Arabia – the KAUST Project - (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology). Arkatype performed a technical design review of the KAUST Campus Wide IT Communication Systems. System Design was reviewed at both the 50% Design Level and the 90% Design Level. Systems that were reviewed included the following: 1. Data Network 2. Structured Cabling 3. IP Telephony 4. IP TV 5. Wireless LAN 6. GPON 7. Integrated Audiovisual and Video Conferencing 8. OSP Backbone 9. OSP Distribution System 10. GPS Synchronized Timing System 11. Exchange Building and Satellite Farm In Addition to the Campus Wide Infrastructure review Arkatype also performed a 50% Design review of the three Mission Critical Data Centers Which included Mechanical, Electrical, and Telecommunications infrastructure. These Data Centers house the Core Network for the KAUST Campus, along with the Middle East’s fastest Super Computer. In Total, Arkatype reviewed the detailing for 22 buildings, which included 10,700 sheets of drawings and 6,700 pages of specifications. The goal was a new post-graduate university intended to draw from the best minds
throughout the world. The campus includes 6.5 million square feet. Construction was completed at a cost of $8.0 billion. The project achieved LEED Platinum status. |
